Progress on "A Weekend Getaway with Jesus" Retreat

We took another drive up to the retreat facility.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of the horses across from the pond in front of the cabin. Isn't the reflection on the water an added bonus!?

I actually went twice. Yes, it is definitely worth the drive.

We now have the tickets for the fundraiser to help families who want to go to the retreat. We have been distributing them to people who have volunteered to help sell them.

Remember that the more you buy the bigger the winning pot gets. The winner of each prize wins half of what we raise.

You can buy tickets online and keep up with the pot as it grows. See the link at the bottom of this page.

The mountains are beautiful. There are areas where the previous fire (many years ago), did some damage. It came close in this valley. There are groups of aspen that have grown and small pines are coming up. It's been years since that fire. It takes a while for the forest to recover.

We saw a few herds of deer. These were having a pow wow under the shade of the tree. We counted 24 deer before they started walking away.

I tried to take some pictures of the road to give people an idea of what it is like. I should do a little video next time, you think?

Some areas are a little steep. It just adds to the adventure right?

Check out this curve. It looks much tighter than it really is. A truck with an RV can make it. I used a wide angle view to get the whole thing in one photo. There are two of these fun curves.

In a previous post, I mentioned the carvings of saints on the end of the pews in the chapel. Above is one example.

The church above is one of our precious gems, tucked away in the mountains. Santo Niño de Atocha. We stopped outside for a little while. We were on our way back. We didn't have too much time.

As we went our separate ways, I noticed the time, 5:15 p.m. There was no way to make it home on time for daily mass. I looked at the sign outside the local church and there is daily mass at 6:00 p.m. That's what I mean by God's timing is amazing.

I took a few pictures of the church as I waited. Our churches are our treasures.

People started getting there as I waited in the parking lot. 6:00 came around and mass had not started. More people were arriving and young ladies and gentlemen were arriving wearing white dresses and white shirts. Hm? Confirmation?

Sure enough! Confirmation.

What a blessing to be a part of the celebration of young people receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Thank you God for your great timing again.

The retreat is coming along nicely.

We have started getting the word out with the "Save the Date" flyers and have asked people to share it.

You are welcome to share the link to invite people you think might want to come or would benefit from a weekend off from the world. This is a time to be away from phones and internet. A great time to rest, rejuvenate, get spiritually fed, and return to the world reinvigorated and energized!
